"On summit day, you get into this
mantra, you're in a cocoon. Every bit of focus and concentration and drive and
ambition one has goes into putting the next foot in front of the other."—David Breashears
It's another restless night at 21,500 feet on Everest as the wind rustles the
tents and awakens the climbers at Camp 2. Expedition leader David Breashears,
nonetheless, knows his team is still feeling strong and that they have a good
chance of making a bid for the summit—weather pending. Most of the other
expeditions on the mountain have left for home, after the tragic storm that hit
Everest last week and claimed the lives of 8 climbers. The progress of the
climb for this expedition and their making of an IMAX/IWERKS large format film
was abruptly halted when the team jumped in to help rescue climbers caught in
the storm. But they are now back on the mountain, hoping to out-smart the
elements and have their own chance at reaching the highest point on earth.
