Before Watching
The brain is one of the most complicated organs of the body, subject to much
study and misunderstanding. Draw a simple outline of a brain on the board and
have students tell you what they know about its structure and function.
Summarize students' contributions and build a "mind map"
of what they know. Try to link related ideas to each other. Prompt students by
asking: Is the brain divided into sections? and What does the brain do? Write
down all responses, including misconceptions; you will revisit this mind map
later.
After Watching
Have students research more information about the brain and revise the mind
map based on their research. Remove misconceptions and add information as
necessary.
